On a practical level the registration of the ownership of the Buildings, assessment and payment of taxes, setting up contracts for rubbish-collection, servicing equipment, etc. are still in progress preventing the letting of offices on the top two floors, but other parts of the building are gradually being occupied as fitting-out allows. Ralitsa, who installed most of the Centre’s acres of tiling with her husband Tenio, is now full-time care-taker, and there is 24/7 security on site.
One of the three 8 hour shifts is taken by Kiril (see photo), based in the ground-floor security office where he can monitor the whole building via sixteen remote cameras. Clearing snow after this year’s heavy falls was a more arduous job!
Fund-raising is on-going to pay for equipment needed in the children’s & youth centre on the fourth floor, roller & louvre-blinds, and curtains generally, and office and seminar room furniture, especially cupboards.
Monthly donations are particularly helpful at this time, so if you would like to give in this way, however much or little, please contact our Treasurer Mark Allen on bulgarianpartners@mandcallen.uk for a simple form. Remember, The Trust can claim an extra 25% from the Government through the Gift Aid scheme at no extra cost to you!
Finally, Project leaders Tedi and Didi Oprenov will be visiting Bristol on 21st and 22nd May 2015 when a special social/fund-raising event will take place, so please put the dates in your diary, and I’ll forward further details to you nearer the time.
