On 20th June we held our Midsummer Soiree at Avon Gorge Hotel, Bristol, overlooking Brunel’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge with champagne, canapés, good conversation, and wonderful violin-playing by 14 year-old Ann-Marie who stepped in at the last minute.
James Caldwell spoke about the work and ethics of the Fair Investment Company Ltd which he heads up, and Teddi & Didi explained the background of the Sofia Project, interviewed by Richard Pendlebury our head of fundraising.
An optional visit to the interesting Victorian Clifton Rocks Railway in a tunnel next to the venue also proved very popular.
About 60 people attended and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Several folk signed up to give monthly, so, counting their donations over just one year, the total raised during the soiree was over £15,000, so well done & thank you folks!
